Lessons Learned: Everyzing CEO Thomas Wilde on Vator.tv
In the second part of his interview with John Shinal, EveryZing CEO Tom Wilde talks about what he’s learned in a decade as an Internet executive and entrepreneur.
A good company starts with a great consumer experience, according to Wilde, a former executive with the search engine and Internet portal Lycos.
“If that’s high quality and a service to the user, the company usually benefits from that,” Wilde says.

Tom Wilde on Vator.TV
John Shinal of vator.tv recently spoke with EveryZing CEO Tom Wilde about video search. As traditional media companies rush to get their content on the Web they face a serious problem—how to help Internet users find their audio files and video clips. EveryZing helps traditional media companies port their offline content onto the Web and put it in a form that can be more easily discovered.
“We’re the inverse of Google video search, Blinkx and Truveo,”
Wilde says, naming just three of the many companies that search Web video.
“We take videos and optimize them for search.”

O.J. Simpson’s Viral Video
In a controversial move, Market News First has brought O.J. Simpson to the world of viral video this week. Kate Delaney speaks with Simpson in what MN1.com describes as a “no holds barred interview.” The video airs on www.MN1.com at 5pm CDT through Friday, August 3rd and promises rebroadcast and a podcast as well as a presence on YouTube. The decision to air an interview with such a polarizing cultural figure is a bold one, and Market News First created this FAQ in an attempt to demonstrate their neutrality.
The interview has already outraged some, as evident in the question one caller asked Simpson regarding whether it was “a bigger feat to break 2,000 yards in one season or slice two necks in one night.” The intrigue remains however, and Simpson’s book “If I Did It” and blog attest to his willingness to remain in the spotlight. It seems the controversy surrounding O.J. Simpson will not subside any time soon; at least not as long as the story remains marketable.

Alex Laats Interviewed on Beet.TV
This past Monday Andy Plesser of Beet.TV posted an interview with PodZinger’s CEO Alex Laats on www.beet.tv. The article, Exclusive: Defense Contractor has Analyzed, Transcribed and Organized 1.5 Million YouTube Clips, features a video of the interview in which Alex explains PodZinger’s technology and why it is valuable to consumers, content owners and advertisers alike. Alex’s interview speaks to PodZinger’s desire to bring search capabilities and content to the consumer with greater ease.
Yet the article itself, as evident from the title, focuses on PodZinger’s role as a subsidiary of BBN Technologies and the relationship between BBN’s government funding and public Internet videos. Interestingly, this spin on PodZinger’s evolution and the roots of our speech-to-text technology plays into the unique fears of a post 9/11 world. One can perceive a slight, Big Brother is watching your YouTube videos message–particularly from the article’s title. We are certainly living in a different world today–one where a company’s connection to a defense contractor can make people slightly nervous or paranoid. It seems ironic to me however, that people might worry about the “government crawling” of user-generated content on public Internet websites. If I can watch your videos online, members of the White House staff could too–albeit some might need help from their kids to find the content.

Andrew Baron on PodZinger
One of the nifty things our users like about PodZinger is how they can track specific terms by subscribing to automatic RSS feeds. For us, we like to track who’s talking about PodZinger and yesterday, we found a nice little segment of Andrew Baron (Rocketboom) on Beet TV.
Andrew is the producer of Rocketboom, one of the first and most popular video blog online. He was recently on Andy Plesser’s Beet TV to share some of things he has been working on for Rockeboom to make it more accessible and searchable for users. Besides using PodZinger to index every episode of the show, Andrew is also trying out another cool translation project where viewers can contribute and translate the episodes in a wiki.
Baron is one of the first partners and we have always been very impressed and privileged to work with someone who has such vision and tenacity to tackle challenges that independent content creators face.

Alex with CC Chapman
Our CEO Alex Laats recently connected with new media evangelist, CC Chapman for the Managing the Gray podcast. In their discussion, they highlighted the importance of content to consumers and we are delighted that a new media advocate like Chapman would refer to us as the “Google for audio and video” content. Chapman also points out many nifty features and tips he likes about PodZinger. This guy really gets it!!! You can listen/download the podcast here at podzinger:
